It seems like an appropriate time for this tip since the holiday season is upon: Be thankful! One of the BEST ways to share that sentiment, especially this time of year, is letting your clients, customers, fans and followers know how much you appreciate their support.
It may seem obvious - OF COURSE - but so many people get caught up in the craziness of this time of year... hello employee who has spent weeks designing a really cool Christmas ornament for customers to buy…that they forget the simple “thank you.” Almost every one appreciates a nice word, an affirmation that his/her participation matters, and it usually reinforces to them that they’ve put their eggs in the right basket. Be it fans who have donated money so your band can record a new EP or customers who supported the printing of your first tee shirt line, knowing that they’ve made a difference is a really important and special thing.
A tweet, insta photo or Facebook post is nice, but much nicer is posting a real letter of thanks on both your website and via an email blast. Maybe you can include photos of things you’re thankful for during the past year, or illustrate exciting growth in your company, but letting people in to your world is key. When you send an email of thanks to someone who has invested in your career, it goes a long way. It’s a small gesture they won’t soon forget.
