Adhering to their original mission statement of “staying true to the company’s vision of empowering independent artists in music,” Instant Records has released a series of digital singles by various label artists under the name “Instant Love.” “Instant Love” is a collection of classic love songs with a twist; the chosen songs are ones that have traditionally been sung by men about women, but these songs are all reimagined with female vocalists. As Instant states on their website, "INSTANT LOVE represents the evaporating gender roles in our society and supports feminism, girl power, and the LGBTQ community. As feminist anthems, the songs also offer empowerment and unity in a volatile political landscape."
This collection will be updated every 2 weeks. The second single in the series, Irma Thomas singing Van Morrison’s "Crazy Love" is online today. Billboard Magazine premiered the track on March 23rd.
Renowned producer, songwriter and record executive Richard Gottehrer, who began Sire Records with Seymour Stein, revitalized Instant Records in 2013. A prolific songwriter in the Brill Building days Mr. Gottehrer wrote classics such as "My Boyfriend's Back," "Sorrow," "Nighttime," and "I Want Candy."
Current Instant artists include the legendary Dion, Princess Superstar, Leo Napier, Au Revoir Simone and more. Visit https://instantrecordsinc.com/ for more on the Instant Love Project.
