As co-founder of the Southwest Invasion, Section 101 CEO Liz Leahy, and her partner, Riptide’s Dan Silver have recognized a terrific opportunity to create a must-see live music and experiential event. Now going in to its fifth year, the Southwest Invasion is one of the highlights of SXSW’s music week.
Whole Foods Market in downtown Austin will once again host the Invasion from March 17-19th on both the rooftop and courtyard square. Attendees will rock out to 30 performances by emerging and legacy bands, as well as an interactive ‘village’ comprised of socially responsible brands.
“Our event brings communities together that have much in common, connecting them with one another to build an even larger, new and vibrant group,” says Liz. “Southwest Invasion curates on a level of discovery, creating breakthrough success for the bands and the brands involved,” adds co-founder Dan.
Recently announced artists include Third Eye Blind, Talib Kweli, Deap Vally, Made of Oak, Stolar, Green River Ordinance, MSTRKRFT, Wild Feather and more. This year’s sponsors include exciting brands such as Clif Bar, Zico Coconut Water, Dogfish Head craft beers, Roland electronic instruments and natural food company Purely Elizabeth.
